Grading contractor work that holds up

Grading and dirt work are the bones of every good build. Get them wrong and you fight it for years — soft pads, washouts, standing water, cracked drives. Middle Georgia clay doesn't forgive lazy dirt work; we build it to last.

Our owner is on the machine and on the spec — state-certified in erosion control and environmental compliance, with the equipment and the patience to do it right the first time. House pads, driveways, drainage, ponds — we run the whole job.

We work with builders, homeowners, and farmers on grading, driveway prep, drainage grading, house pads, site leveling, and Georgia clay drainage corrections. When the lot still needs opening up we roll straight in from land clearing or pair with excavator work for ponds and trenching.

How a grading job runs

1. Walk the Site

Owner walks the property, looks at slopes, drainage, soil, and access. We talk through what you want — pad location, driveway path, where water goes.

2. Written Quote

Fixed-price written estimate that covers cut, fill, compaction, drainage, and erosion control. No vague hourly bids.

3. Build the Dirt

Cut, fill, shape, and compact to spec. Install drainage, culverts, and erosion control as we go — not as an afterthought.

4. Final Grade & Walk

Smooth finish grade, clean up, and walk it with you. You don't pay until it's right.

The equipment we bring

Excavators

Cut, dig, trench, ditch, and shape. The workhorse for most dirt work jobs.

Skid Steers

Tight finish grading, pad work, and material handling around houses, fences, and existing landscaping.

Dozer Support

Pushing material, rough grading, and shaping bigger pads and access roads.

Compaction & Hauling

Roller compaction in lifts and the trucks to bring in fill or haul off spoil.

Built for Georgia clay

Middle Georgia red clay is its own animal. It bakes hard in the summer, slicks up in the rain, and holds water in places you didn't expect. A house pad that wasn't shaped and compacted properly will settle, crack, and trap water under the foundation. A driveway that wasn't crowned right washes the first hard rain.

We've graded pads, driveways, and drainage from Upson and Lamar counties down to Talbot and Harris. We know where the rock seams start, how steep is too steep, and how to shape a yard so the water goes where you want it instead of into the crawlspace. State-certified erosion control is part of every job — not a checkbox at the end.

Grading & dirt work questions

How much does it cost to grade a house pad in Middle Georgia?

+

Most residential house pads run anywhere from a couple thousand to ten-plus thousand dollars depending on the cut and fill volume, hauled material, compaction requirements, and how much site clearing is involved. We always quote a fixed written price after walking the lot.

Can you fix standing water and drainage problems?

+

Yes — surface grading, swales, ditches, french drains, and culverts. Most standing water issues on Georgia clay are slope and runoff problems that get solved with smart grading, not just a pipe in the ground.

Do you build gravel driveways?

+

Yes. We grade the path, install culverts where needed, build the base, crown it for drainage, and lay gravel. We can build new driveways or repair existing ones that have rutted out or washed.

What does state-certified erosion control mean and why does it matter?

+

Georgia requires erosion and sediment control on any job that disturbs ground — especially near water. Our owner holds the state E&SC certification, which means we plan and install silt fence, construction exits, and stabilization the right way so your job stays compliant and your dirt stays put.

Will you compact the pad so my foundation crew can build on it?

+

Yes. Cut, fill, lift, and roller compaction in the lifts. If your builder needs a compaction report we can coordinate that with a third-party tester.

Can you build or clean out a pond?

+

Yes. Pond cleanouts, dam repair, spillway work, and full new ponds. Owner is state-certified so we can handle the erosion side properly when working near water.

Do you do small dirt work jobs or only big ones?

+

Both. We've done quarter-acre yard regrading, single-driveway repairs, and multi-acre site work for builders. Small job or big, we walk it and quote it the same way.
